Re-Thinking Today’s Terminology is the creation of a group of 33 artists of varied nationalities and backgrounds. The artists have used various print-making methods as a visual forum to respond critically to how other cultures (for this specific exchange the diverse cultures of the Middle East) inform relations of art. Come see this international art exhibit and hear curator May Hariri Aboutaam speak about the art work!

Printmaking was one of the very first replication technologies and is now poised, as it integrates digital media and expands its conceptual borders, to occupy a pivotal position in contemporary art and culture.

This conference will encourage critical discourse on such issues as digital media and expanded notions of print media, print theory, the plight of material and process specific disciplines, marginalization, and understanding printmaking’s shift to a place of leadership in the postmodern terrain.

Keynote Address:

Shelly Bancroft and Peter Nesbett are the co-directors of Triple Candie, a not-for-profit contemporary art venue founded in Harlem in 2001, and co-publishers of Art on Paper magazine, which they have owned since 2004. They are married to each other and live in Harlem.
